Simarka[1] is a planet located in the Milky Way galaxy.

Overview[edit | edit source]

Simarka is a very green planet with a cold climate.[2] Some territories are unexplored, like the Sea of Ogada. There is also a desert area, ruled by Chimakka, the desert warlord. At least 25 tribes live on Simarka.[3] Almost all men in the known tribes are polygamists, as among the Shavadai, even a lowliest man is chief among his women. Moughal, chieftain of the Shavadai, is an exception; he is married to only one woman. This is somehow considered as a weakness (SG1: "Emancipation").

History[edit | edit source]

Certainly more than 900 years ago, the Goa'uld enslaved Earth Mongol tribes and used the Stargate network to bring them on Simarka for some reason. After that, the Goa'uld left the planet and abandoned the Simarkians on their own, but some ancestral laws remained until 1997 where womens were treated like merchandise. According to Moughal, those laws were made to protect and hide women from the demons who brought them here. During times, some tribes made war to expand their territories (SG1: "Emancipation").

"Emancipation" (1997)[edit | edit source]

SG-1 is on a recon mission on Simarka where they encounter Mongol-like tribes, may be some descendants of the Chagatai, an extinct mongol tribe for 900 year on Earth. Thanks to the determination of Captain Samantha Carter, Moughal, chieftain of the Shavadai, frees all the womens of his clan from the oppressive yoke of the ancestral laws.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • "Simarka" isn't pronounced in the episode. It appears in the RPG (Separate continuity) but it also appears on the official MGM Stargate website.[1] As a result, this name is kept in the wiki as canon.

  2. This statement is deducted as the locals wear heavy coats.
  3. 22 tribes swore allegiance to Turghan, Chimakka's tribe was about to do the same with the arranged marriage with Nya, the Toughai, and the Shavadai, making 25 tribes. May be we can add the unknown people of the Sea of Ogada, but that's not sure as, according to Abu, nobody has traveled this far.
